The Golden Statue

There once was a young man who possessed a clay statue, one that was passed down as an inheritance, a family heirloom.

The young man wished that the statue was more vibrant than the plain clay that it was, so he set out to cover it with gold.

He was proud when he did.

But because it was only clay wrapped in gold, the gold didn't stick very well and kept peeling away.

He would spend hours and hours trying to maintain his gold statue, to keep it from showing the clay underneath. His efforts could not completely maintain the gold.

One day, his grandfather visited. The young man was excited to show his grandfather how he turned the ordinary clay statue into a magnificent gold one, but was at the same time embarrassed of the clay that was showing through.

His grandfather embraced him, stared lovingly at the statue, and began picking away at the clay. "This must have fallen in some mud many years ago, and you were too young to remember," the grandfather said.

As his grandfather slowly poked and prodded the clay away, the young man saw shimmering yellow gold underneath it.

"The statue was solid gold all along, just caked underneath the clay.  Now to reveal what you've had all along, you just have to peel back the layers of clay to get to its true nature" he said again, handing the statue back to the young man.

Do you see yourself as a clay or gold statue?

We all have imperfections. See the gold and celebrate it.

Nobody plays as you do. There is only one you in the world. So be you.

Let your gold shine through.

You have greatness within you waiting to be unleashed.

Stay frosty, friends.
